How to Join

<< Back to Why You Should Join

The annual membership fee for the coming 2005-2006 project year is $17,500. New members must also pay an information fee of $40,000 to gain access to past results. Future years will only require the annual membership fee. The information fee is reduced to $25,000 if you agree to join for 3 full years. The information fee buys into the results of all previous years – 5 years of research, including the 2-year Surface Defect and Fatigue Resistance JIP – which includes more than 4,000 fatigue tests on coiled tubing samples with a wide range of surface defects and repairs. Based on the results of those tests, a software package has also been developed that allows you to make life predictions for tubing with and without defects, and some repairs, for test fixture and well-site configurations.

Another way to join the project is to conduct inspections on coiled tubing samples and contribute the results of those inspections, including the raw transducer output data to the consortium. The current “Letter of Agreement,” covers this “in-kind” participation, in addition to the normal cash membership.

The current “Letter of Agreement” is available by e-mail from the Consortium director, Dr. Steven M. Tipton.

The project year runs from September to August.
