22 kip MTS Servohydraulic Test Machine
This machine is capable of imposing axial loading with virtually any load history in stress, strain or deflection control. It has been used to generate 4 strain-controlled low-cycle fatigue data sets for coiled tubing materials. (Quality Tubing’s 70, 80 and 100 ksi grades, and Precision Tubing’s 90 ksi grades).
Strain-controlled fatigue tests are conducted with zero-to-max triangular strain signals up to 5.0%, resulting in lives below 80 cycles. A computerized acquisition system monitors hysteresis loops throughout the life of each specimen. The data sets provide the baseline fatigue damage function for life prediction programs used worldwide by Schlumberger Dowell and CTES.
55 kip MTS ServoHydraulic Test Machine
This machine is capable of imposing axial loading with virtually any load history in stress strain or deflection control.
It will be used to study
coiled tubing mechanical
behavior, specifically
plasticity and possibly the
influence of plasticity on
magnetic behavior.

SAE Bending / Torsion Test Fixture
Batelle Laboratories Columbus donated the frame to this machine. It was fabricated as part round robin activities of the SAE Fatigue Design and Evaluation Committee. The fixture can be programmed to prescribe any bending and torsion load history on shaft-like cylindrical
specimens.
