The TU-CTMRC has extensive research facilities which include the following equipment.
Horizontal Coiled Tubing Fatigue Test Fixture
This machine imposes bending-straightening fatigue cycles or bending-reverse bending fatigue cycles to coiled tubing samples up to 3½-inches in diameter with internal pressures up to 10,000 psi. Samples are flexed in a horizontal plane over bending mandrels of 48-in, 60-in or 72-in radii. The machine was designed to be easily loaded from tabletop height to facilitate the generation of large data sets. The machine was built as part of the
Surface Defects and Fatigue Resistance JIP
.
Horizontal Fatigue Test Fixture Capabilities:
- Bending radii of 48, 60, or 72 inches
- Internal pressures of up to 10,000 psi
- Tubing diameters of up to 3½ inches
- MTS Control
- Reverse bending capabilities
- Computerized data acquisition system
